Having shared my favourite Dream House spaces and interior mood boards, I thought it was about time to show you My Home Style. What better time to start this new blog feature than my favourite time of year – Christmas time! At this time of year, I LOVE putting on Christmassy tunes and spending time styling our home for the festive season. Here is a peek inside our colourful, Christmas home.I just love my festive front door courtesy of my favourite florist First Blush. Dawn was also my wedding florist and always manages to create exactly what I have in mind. I love the mix of winter berries and foliage.
You may notice I have a bit of a red and white theme going on – I just love Scandinavian style. In the hallway, I couldn’t resist this gorgeous advent calendar from BHS last year – a bargain at 25 quid! My berries, again, are from First Blush and my red stag was picked up at Wilko would you believe?!
In the living room, the tree is the main focal point. We usually get a real Christmas tree, but this year decided to invest in a hassle free pre-lit one from Marks and Spencer. It came in three parts and was so easy to assemble. I think it looks pretty realistic. My wee red house lanterns were from Tesco last year. They had such a lovely range of decorations last year, but this year has been rather disappointing. My nordic style cushions and nativity russian dolls were from John Lewis.
In the dining room, my red felt snowflake placemats and coasters have jazzed up my table and the red plywood heart adds a wee touch of Christmas to my yellow cabinet.
It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas. I spent last Friday afternoon decorating the tree with She & Him blaring in the background. All I was missing was a wee glass of mulled wine to celebrate! With the weather so dark and gloomy outside, it is such a joy to put on some flickering fairy lights, light some candles, relax and enjoy our cosy, festive home. I wish it could stay like this all year long.
Have you decorated your house for Christmas? Do you get a real tree or do you prefer artificial?
